It was a Sunday afternoon at Witches Rock in Santa Rosa National Park. We knew the conditions would be windy, with gusts blowing at 20 knots. The waves were predicted to be small as well, but the group of women and kids that came with us on this trip were eager to surf uncrowded waves and experience the magical energy of Witches Rock that Sunday afternoon.
The conditions were just as expected – but that didn’t stop this group from having an awesome experience. The chicas were ripping! Although some of them went to the boat, from the beach where I was taking photos, I could hear a small group of the girls in the water with Captain Julio singing songs and screaming of laughter – even with the wind howling and waves crashing!
All in all, it was a great day, there were waves for everyone (even the little girls that came! Ages 7 and 8.) It just goes to show you that even in un-perfect conditions, you just have to be patient with a positive attitude, and that perfect wave will eventually come.
Surfing is not an easy sport; but like anything in life, with persistence and patience you will start gaining momentum and overcome challenges you never thought you could.
